iPSC-Derived Hepatocytes Generated from NASH Donors Provide a Valuable Platform for Disease Modeling and Drug Discovery

Gurevich I, Burton SA, Munn C, Ohshima M, Goedland ME, Czysz K, Rajesh D. Biol Open. 2020 Dec 16;9(12):bio055087.

See how these FCDI researchers developed a novel differentiation process to make hepatocytes from NASH donors that displayed stage-specific phenotypic markers, hepatocyte morphology, and differentiated to pure and functional hepatocytes that recapitulated features of NASH hepatocytes in vivo.

Electrophysiological Phenotype Characterization of Human iPSC-Derived Neuronal Cell Lines by Means of High-Density Microelectrode Arrays

Ronchi, S, Buccino, AP, Prack, G, Kumar, SS, Schröter, M, Fiscella, M, Hierlemann A, bioRxiv 2020.09.02.271403

In this work, HD-MEAs were used in vitro to characterize and compare iPSC-derived dopaminergic and motor neurons, including isogenic neuronal lines modeling Parkinson's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Burst shapes and axonal velocity metrics enabled the distinction of healthy and diseased neurons and HD-MEA could detect the effects of drug dosing with high sensitivity
