We have launched two new models of iCell Motor Neurons with engineered mutations in Tar DNA binding protein (TDP-43) associated with most familial and sporadic ALS. These new models are isogenic with the apparently healthy donor 01279 providing an ideal control. Available in kit format or as cells alone.

This study examined the TdP risk for COVID-19 drugs including hydroxychloroquine, remdesivir, favipiravir, camostat and ivermectin with a multi-electrode array (MEA) system and motion analysis using hiPSC-CMs. The group also investigated electromechanical window to establish proarrhythmic risk for these compounds. Measuring Neural Network Activity on MEA: Co-Culture of iCell GlutaNeurons with iCell Astrocytes

Monitoring the electrical activity of iPSC-derived neurons in vitro is a key neuronal functional assay that provides a readout of neuronal health of high importance for numerous applications. This Application Protocol describes how to co-culture iCell GlutaNeurons together with iCell Astrocytes on MEA plates to establish synchronously bursting neural networks that can be used to assess drug-induced seizurogenic responses. The combination of iCell products from FCDI with MEA technology from Axion Biosystems enables advanced studies of neuronal electrical activity in human cells. Furthermore, it opens avenues for multiple applications in neurotoxicity testing and drug discovery.
